Kolkata, 31st January 2025 – Today marks a momentous occasion for all Xaverians as Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, was honoured with the Film Federation of India Achiever’s Award at MECON 2025: Media and Entertainment Convention. The prestigious event was hosted by the Film Federation of India in collaboration with the Techno India Group at Fairfield by Marriott, Kolkata.

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, was recognized for his outstanding contributions to higher education in the fields of Media, Research, and Mass Communication, as well as his unwavering commitment to societal development through educational excellence.

In his acceptance speech, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, dedicated this award to the students, staff, alumni and all stakeholders of the college. He highlighted the legacy of Jesuit priests and their significant contributions to the media and entertainment sector over the decades. Additionally, he shared his vision for the upcoming Media Hub and Research Facility of St. Xavier’s College at E.M. Bypass, Anandapur.

The award was presented to him by Mr. Babul Supriyo and Mr. Sujit Bose, Ministers of State, Government of West Bengal, in the presence of Mr. Firdausul Hasan, President of the Film Federation of India. The convention was graced by eminent personalities from the Film, Media, and Communication industries, along with 300 students from across Kolkata, making it a truly inspiring event.

St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata led by our Hon'ble Principal Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ earned another prestigious accolade at the ongoing Triennial Conference of All India Association of Christian Higher Education (AIACHE) 2024 organized at the XIM University , Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 27th - 29th December 2024.

With a big round of applause, our Reverend Principal Father Dominic Savio , SJ has been conferred with Dr. Sam Higginbottom Award for the Best Principal of India 2024 jointly Awarded by Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Science and All India Association For Christian Higher Education and our St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata has been presented a special Shield in recognition of standing among the Top 100 NIRF Ranking Colleges in India at the said conference. It's been a proud moment for all the valued stakeholders of the College for receiving such honour and recognition at such a prestigious platform.

Notably, the Vice Principals of the College Rev. Dr. Peter Arockiam SJ, Rev. Dr. Joseph Kulandai SJ and Rev. Fr. Johnson Padiyara SJ accompanied Rev. Father Principal in receiving this valuable honour.

Rev Dr Dominic Savio, SJ - Principal of St. Xavier’s College was conferred with the prestigious Pride of Bengal Award for Education for being among the visionaries and innovators of Bengal, by I.I.H.M. at a grand event on 21.03.24.

Rev Dr Dominic Savio, SJ - Principal of St. Xavier’s College was felicitated with the Management Excellence Award 2024 for Leadership in Institutional Excellence, for his exemplary leadership in the field of contemporary education by the Calcutta Management Association (CMA).
Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ dedicated this award to all the members of the Xaverian Community including Jesuit Priests, Staff, Students and Alumni.

Rev Dr Dominic Savio, SJ - Principal of St. Xavier’s College was conferred with the honour of Principal of the year and College of the year award by Lions International District 322B2 on 15 December 2023. Rev Father dedicated both the awards to the Jesuit community, students, staff and alumni members of the College.

Rev.Fr. Dominic Savio was awarded the Xavier’s Award for Excellence in Imparting Education by St. Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association (SXCAA) on 5th September 2023.

Rev.Fr. Dominic Savio was felicitated by the West Bengal Governor Dr. C. V. Ananda Bose on 24 August, 2023 at a well attended programme at Taj Bengal in Kolkata. Rev. Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio, S.J was presented with an award for his outstanding contribution in the field of higher education in general and also for supporting the cause of true spirit of Journalism. It was organized by the Journalism Awards Committee in association with the Candid Communication as a part of the 9th Edition of the Award.

Confederation of West Bengal Traders Association (CWBTA) at its annual award ceremony on Monday, December 19th, 2022 felicitated Rev. Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio SJ , Principal, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata for his outstanding contribution in the field of higher education. The association honors leaders from different walks of life every year for their outstanding contribution.

The CWBTA while giving away the award has praised St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata and it's Principal for bringing in qualitative changes in Higher Education in this part of the country.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ has been conferred with the honour GURUKUL AWARDS Best College Principal of the year for 2021-22 organised by Lions Clubs International District 322B2 on 18th November 2022.

Global Xaverian Honour to Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio for his leadership and contribution in the fields of Academics, Admistration and Philanthropy

Xaverians from all over the world assembled in London on 8th October 2022 to honour and felicitate Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, for his exemplary leadership and contribution in the fields of Academics, Admistration and Philanthropy at Beyond Boundaries VII - the international convention of St. Xavier’s College (Calcutta ) Alumni Association.

Rev Dr Dominic Savio , SJ ( Principal of St. Xavier’s College , Kolkata ) has received the Special award for "Outstanding contribution to the development of Education" at IIHM Teachers' Day Awards for 2022 held on 13th September Tuesday at Hyatt Regency Kolkata.

His selfless contribution in ensuring the continuation of education for financially weak students, teachers and College is absolutely commendable. The numerous lives that he has touched and nurtured throughout is exceptional.

Rev. Fr. Dominic Savio received the “Badge of Honour” in recognition for the selfless contribution, dedication and devotion to spread the message of Peace, Unity & Brotherhood. The Award was presented on the occasion of “World Understanding & Peace Day” on 23rd February 2022 by Rotary Sadan Calcutta, India.

On 13th November, 2021, Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's College (Autonomous), Kolkata, was conferred the "Jewel of Bengal - Education Leadership Award" for his outstanding contribution in Education. This award was conferred on Father during the 4th edition of Stepping Out Night Market in association with International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM).

On 11th November 2021, on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (Education Day), Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier's College, was conferred the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award - 2021 in the field of Education by Maulana Azad Foundation for Education and Culture, Kolkata.

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, is the recipient of the ‘Shiksha Ratna’ Award 2021 given by the Government of West Bengal on the occasion of Teachers’ Day. The award is given in recognition of the outstanding service and contribution in the field of education. The award included two mementos, a set of books on Education and Bengal and a cheque of Rs. 25,000/-. Father dedicated this award to all the Jesuits who have served here since 1860, teachers, support staff, alumni/ae, parents and well-wishers of the College.

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata received the ‘Education Eminence Award 2021’ for excellence in advancement of Education and Human Relations, conferred to St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, by ‘News 18 Bangla,’ a leading News Channel of Kolkata on 25th July, 2021.

The Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BNCCI) felicitated Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), Kolkata, for his contribution in Education Sector on 21st February, 2021. This award was presented to Father by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar and First Lady Smt. Sudesh Dhankar at the 33rd Industrial India Trade Fair, 2021, BNCCI House, 23 R.N. Mukherjee Road, Kolkata – 700 001.

Father was conferred the ‘Mother Teresa International Award’ by the Mother Teresa International Award Committee on 16th January, 2020. This award was handed over to Father by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, Shri Jagdeep Dhankar

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ was conferred ‘Pratibhu – Life time Achievement Award’ during the Dipali Roy Memorial Award 2019 Ceremony at the Church of the Epiphany, Thakurpukur on 11th January, 2020.

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ was conferred ‘Award for Contribution of St. Xavier's, Kolkata in Indian Cinema’ during the 1st Edition of Bharat Bangladesh Film Awards 2019 organized at Basundhara City Auditorium, Dhaka on 21st October, 2019. This award was given by Film Federation of India and was handed over by the Information and Broadcasting Minister of Bangladesh.

Father is also the recipient of the ‘Award of Excellence in Education and Philanthropy’ conferred on him by the Bengal National Chambers of Commerce and Industry on 14th April, 2018.

Rev. Dr. Dominic Savio, SJ, Principal of the College is also the recipient of the prestigious ‘Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Award’ for his contribution in Higher Education in 2017. This award was conferred to Father by the West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education & Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal. Father dedicated this award to the Student Community.
